Leenco Baati and Hassan Husseen: Nationalists or Clan Politicians?
August 12 2008
Badhaaso
Tola and Mohammad Adam
The chairman of the OLF,
Dawud Ibssa and his inner circle should have known better. He should
have studied these individuals and their collaborators such as the
Wayane general, Kamal Galchu, before appointing them in the highest
positions in the OLF. The OLF has been built with the blood and
bones of Oromo heroes and heroines and should not be entrusted with
individuals who did not yet demonstrate their commitment to defend
the OLF and the Oromo cause.

The Asmara Group schism should not divide the Oromo people
August 8 2008 OLF-QC
The Asmara Group, which is
dishonestly continuing to call itself the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF),
has been split into two albeit to advance the programmes of the
enemies of the Oromo struggle. Both factions of the Asmara Group
openly pledge allegiance to Ethiopia rather than Oromia. Their
allegiance to Ethiopia has been further symbolized by their repeated
waving of the Ethiopian flag at meetings and public rallies in London,
Washington DC and elsewhere. The OLF stands for independent Oromia not
Ethiopia. Thus, we would like to reiterate once again that the
factions of the Asmara Group cannot call themselves the OLF.

Ethiopia accuses Eritrea on
termination of UN mission
July 31 2008 Afrol News

Ethiopia has today blamed archrival Eritrea for prompting the United
Nations to end its peacekeeping mission to supervise the two neighbours'
disputed boundary line. The UN security
council yesterday, on the eve of the mission's expiry, voted to stop
1,700 UN forces' operation (UNMEE), along Eritrea and Ethiopia's common
border, after the mission was seen to have "failed", increasing dangers
of a new Ethiopia-Eritrea war.

UN removes peacekeeping assets from Ethiopia and Eritrea
July 31 2008 Earth Times

The UN military observer mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea began
Thursday to liquidate its headquarters in the capital cities of both
countries, one day after the UN Security Council terminated its mandate.
The council's decision stemmed from the failure of both countries to
accept a compromise solution over their border dispute. The two- year war
between Ethiopia and Eritrea ended in 2000 with a ceasefire that was to
be monitored by the UN mission. The UN said the war claimed at least
70,000 lives on both sides.
